A Low Dose Lung Cancer Screening Can Save Your Life
Are you worried about the possibility of lung cancer? If so, your neighbors at Long Island Community Hospital want to help reduce your fear with an annual screening for lung cancer which can detect disease before symptoms appear and potentially save your life.
Let our lung cancer screening experts coordinate your care in a warm and friendly environment that will make you feel right at home. The Long Island Community Hospital Lung Cancer Screening Program offers low-dose CT screening, which meets American College of Radiology (ACR) standards and follows best practices. We are designated by the ACR as a Lung Cancer Screening Center and named a Center of Excellence by the GO2 Foundation (formerly the Lung Cancer Alliance).
Our goal is to catch lung cancer early, so we can offer you the greatest opportunity for cure. Annual screening can make a difference in your life by detecting cancer in its earliest stages when it is most treatable.
You can be screened for lung cancer, if you are:
- 55 to 77 years old
- a current or former smoker within 15 years
- have a 30 pack year history (one pack a day for 30 years or two packs a day for 15 years)
Most insurance plans cover lung cancer screening for patients who meet eligibility criteria.
We make the process easy for you.
As a member of our community, your health is important to us. You will be treated by a compassionate, multidisciplinary team of experts, who are focused on providing you with personalized care that meets your specific needs. We understand you may be concerned about the results and we are here for you, without judgment, with a nurturing and supportive team every step of the way.
We’ll treat you like family.
At Long Island Community Hospital, you can take comfort in knowing that you will receive high-touch and compassionate care in a community-friendly setting. Your test results will be reviewed by our team of radiologists, pulmonologists, oncologists and thoracic surgeons to ensure that your care is coordinated and without delays. You’ll be closely monitored with annual low-dose CT scans and reminded each year to schedule your test. If you do have an abnormal screening, we’ll follow-up immediately with testing; referrals; appointments; and treatment, if needed, by our lung cancer specialists.
