Lifesaving Hospital Nutrition Worker Hailed as Employee of the Month
Nutritional Aide Recognized for Aiding an Unresponsive Patient
Nutritional Aide Amber Ramroop was already well known and respected by both patients and staff at Long Island Community Hospital for her bright and cheery attitude, and for her “Can-Do” attitude by her supervisors and peers. On January 16th, she also added the distinction of Hero to her many accolades. While delivering a lunch tray to a patient, Amber noticed a sudden change in the patient’s breathing and responsiveness. She immediately notified the nursing staff which triggered an alert of the hospital’s rapid response team, resulting in the successful resuscitation of the patient.
“For the past year our front-line caregivers have gone above and beyond protecting our community from the COVID-19 pandemic.” stated Richard T. Margulis, President and CEO. “As with all of our Courageous Hearts, I am extremely grateful and proud of Amber’s commitment to do what’s best for our patients. She is a shining example that each and every one of our employees here at LI Community Hospital are true heroes.”
Amber was presented the hospital’s Employee of the Month Award for March for her outstanding efforts and for exemplifying the core values of the hospital.
