Hi guys -Mary back.
I got a great question as it pertains to hydration and physical activity.
What’s the better choice…. water or a sports drink?
Well we know that water is essential and absolutely the body’s favorite liquid, however if you’re working out outdoors for greater than 60 minutes, its hot and humid and you are sweating heavily, a sports drink is a better way to go because it contains electrolytes and carbohydrates that are going to help replenish your needs. If you are working out indoors for less than 60 minutes water is completely appropriate.
Don’t forget we need hydration before, during and after exercise!
Before you get started, 16 oz. is the recommendation, during exercise, about 4-8 oz. every 15 minutes. And of course, once you’re done exercising, making sure that you properly hydrate at that point as well.
I hope this answers your question, please keep them coming! And I will talk to you soon.
