Long Island Community Hospital celebrated the discharge of their 500th COVID-19 patient with a clap-out farewell by hospital administration and staff. The clap-out celebration took place at 3PM on Monday, June 8th, at the main hospital entrance located at 101 Hospital Rd., Patchogue, NY.
57 year-old Henry Perez, of Mastic. NY, left the hospital after being treated in the hospital for the Coronavirus, COVID-19, for 31 days.
President and CEO, Richard T. Margulis says, “We couldn’t be more excited to celebrate this amazingly strong and upbeat patient. Our frontline heroes put in their best so that he could continue to fight back to health and enjoy his life again.” Mr. Perez had a fever for ten days as he tried to fight off the virus at home, but then a cough with escalating shortness of breath for another five days made it clear he needed the care at LI Community Hospital.
Henry Perez says “Cornonavirus is no joke”. My doctors, Dr. Manoj Trehan, Dr. John Hsu and Dr. Fazal Faroqui have been on top of it and helped me get passed this. The nurses were great with me, especially Tylyn Copeland, RN.” Henry headed to rehab and where he wants to keep getting better.
“Mr. Perez says he ‘feels real good’ and that’s all we want to hear,” says Mr. Margulis. “That positivity will echo through our halls today, touching not only his caregivers, but all of us here at the hospital who want to see our patients get through this virus and back to where they belong. We will continue to bring our expertise and our compassion forward to help community.”
