Lung cancer kills more patients per year than breast, colon, prostate and pancreas combined. Lung Cancer also has an extremely poor 5-year survival rate. This is due mostly to the fact that most lung cancers are diagnosed in the late stages. Studies have shown that if we can catch lung cancers in the early stages, 5-year survival rates significantly increase. We can even offer curative lung surgery to some patients with early stage lung cancer. We’ve created a comprehensive lung cancer screening program here at Long Island Community Hospital to help our community navigate this important screening test. If you have questions or think you maybe eligible, please call us or contact you community physician to find out more about how this screening test could be right for you.
